Who is responsible
Data2MD is responsible for handling the data described on this page. Contact: support@aiu4.com.
The file you upload
It is deleted from the server right after conversion, including when the conversion fails. It is used only to extract the text and is not retained.
The Markdown produced
It is kept and reachable through the download link until it is deleted. It does not expire on its own.
The file name
It is stored alongside the conversion, because it is what names the file you download. If your file name contains personal data, that data is kept for as long as the conversion exists.
Account data
If you create an account, your e-mail address is stored, together with the records that keep you signed in and a record of each conversion you make while signed in. The address is used to send sign-in links and, where relevant, messages about your subscription. It is not used for marketing and is not shared.
Payment data
Payments are processed by Stripe, acting as our payment processor. Stripe receives what it needs to take the payment; we receive back an identifier for your customer record and the state of your subscription — its status, which price it is on, and when the current period ends. Card numbers are never sent to or stored by this site. Stripe handles what it receives under its own terms, published at stripe.com/privacy.
API token
An API token is stored only as a cryptographic hash, so the token itself cannot be read back from our records by anyone, including us. What is kept beside it is enough to recognise which token you are looking at and not enough to use it. We also record when it was last used, so you can tell whether it is still in service.
IP address
It is recorded for security and to enforce the usage limit. In the operational record the address is stored in reduced form, without its final part. In the access record the full address is kept for up to 30 days and then deleted.
Who can reach your conversion
Anyone holding the download link. The link contains a random identifier and is not listed anywhere, but do not share links to sensitive documents.
Cookies
We use two cookies: one to remember the language you picked, and one to keep you signed in, which exists only while you have an account session. There is no tracking, no behavioural analytics and no advertising.
Deleting your data
You can delete any conversion yourself from your dashboard, which removes the Markdown and its record, and the download link then stops working for everyone who has it. For a conversion made without an account, write to support@aiu4.com with the identifier shown in the download link. To close an account, write to the same address: the account and its sign-in records are removed, and its conversions are detached from it rather than deleted — so delete anything you want gone before closing the account.
